The Etek 5 (Planet Eclipse)

Written by Phil on . Posted in Markers, Non classé

The Etek 5 is the mid-range at Planet Eclipse markers with open bolt. It has the following features:

– High or low pressure (high pressure recommended)
– SL4 Regulator
– POPS (On / Off / Purge System)
– Canon Shaft4 14.5 inches with 0693 base
– Cure V bolt
– Initiation shooting via mechanical Switch
– Adjustable Card via color flash or via an LCD screen (available end of January)
– Weight: 1013 g (barrel and battery included)

The Etek 5 of this article is the Black Edition. It was announced at € 509.95, customer prices.

The innovation of the Etek 5 compared to just 4 Etek replacing the bolt and regulztor, making it quieter marker with less kick, more regular and more independently than its predecessor.

1. The Gun case

The gun box is at the design of the Etek 5 which is the same as GEO 3.5 or LV1. We denote professionalism and reliability of the brand that puts a logo + 18 years on the box. We think that Planet Eclipse is a responsible brand.

The 5 Etek  gun case is a hard plastic box that opens with a horizontal zipper. It sees its colors journals as you can see from the pictures. When you receive the gun case will be covered with a transparent plastic film. Once the gun open case, there are two compartments. The compartments are filled with a rigid foam. The first compartment will contain your marker and a key set of allen on a support, a stunning glossy manual, a barrel plug, oil tube and a hand full kit.

The second compartment contains the forehead and the 0.693 base. The location to place 2 bases and extra head is already planned.

2. Ergonomy

The Etek 5 sees her totally changed ergonomics. The grip of the handle is similar to the LV1. It takes 2 screws on each side. The regulator receives a grip. The grip regulator unlike that of LV1 is in one piece, despite that it allows, as the LV1, movements of torsion and rotation by hand. To remove the grip, please refer to the “regulator”

Etek physically took 5 volume. It is clearly more massive. It weighs 1013 g.

IMG_4683 IMG_4681

3. Barrel

The gun remains the Shaft 4, which is the standard barrel at Planet Eclipse. It comes with a 0.693 base. The barrel, once mounted, is 14.5 ‘. Viewpoint shooting quality, it equals its competitors as Dye Ultralight.

The Shaft 4 is no cocker screw. Note that the screw for connection to the front is reversed.

Other bases are available in 0,681,0,685 and 0.689. If you want a longer barrel, note that Planet has released a front of 16 “, which is available only in black.

Parenthesis: the broad discussion of 14 “against 16” Outside the square considerations in the game, the 16 “has that advantage, to have a precision LONG distance greater than 14”. Also this is marginal, as the guidance of the ball is longer, the pressure required for the same range is lower so the air consumption is reduced and the kick and the risk of ball breakage. BUT we insist that this point, the air consumption is more theoretical than anything else.

4. Trigger

Triggering the firing of the Etek 5 is via a mechanical switch. The trigger does not undergo modification.

 IMG_4696 IMG_4711 IMG_4710

To set your trigger:

Screw A: This is the race screw forward. Unscrew to increase the race. Screw to decrease the race.

Screw B: This is the race screw backwards. Unscrew to increase the race. Screw to decrease the race.

Screw C: This is the screw of the magnet to the flexibility or stiffness of the trigger. Unscrew to make your light trigger. Screw to make your hard trigger.

5. Feeder

The feeder composite materials is robust design. It is independent of the body of the marker, which is worth close to her body marker via a screw. The loader clamping screw adjustment is also done using an allen key.

Small feature, the feeder is not right, relative to the axis of the marker to reduce ball breakage.

Despite their robust design, all feeder Planet Eclipse are breakable. If dropped, Planet prefers to see the feeder rather than breaking the bones of their owner, further proof of liability.

6. The Eye System

The eye cover always cover the eyes and the ball detent. They hold the marker via a screw. The system does not undergo change.

If no ball, flash flash yellow. The marker will not work.

In the presence of a ball, flash, flash light blue. Careful, the marker can shoot.

To turn eyes: Hold the button on the handle until the purple flash light flash slowly. Careful, the marker can shoot.

If blocked: In case of eye problem, the flash purple flash quickly. Careful, the marker can shoot.

Notify : Do not pinch the power cables with eye covers may damage them. If your eye covers are not set up properly or you must force to screw is that the power cable is in the way.

7. The air systemoops

The air system does not change. This is always a ring screw to allow circulation of air in the marker. We recommend to use the high pressure (800psi) to have good air flow at any time in your marker.

8. The bolt

The propulsion system sees a trend worthy of LV1. It consists of 2 parts: bolt

– The bolt (black cylinder) is the CURE V. It is equipped with a bolt tip like the GSL to reduce ball breakage.
– The rammer (metal silver cylinder) is the Zick 3. As one of LV1, he sees a change in its joints. 2 previously attached responsible for sealing the air namely the first and the third starting with the head of the rammer, was a gasket 9 and 11 NBR70. But now as the LV1, it is a 10 and 11 NBR70. The rear shape reminiscent of Zick 3 LV1 but the front is rounded on the LV1 here is to hit the cylinder valve.

It should be noted that the valve and the exhaust valve are also modified. Usually the valve is held in place by a screw under the body of the marker. Here it is more similar to a “clips”. It is likely that this is a development that will end up on the next EGO. We remind you that the valve sense. Placed it upside down and you will see a sharp drop in velocity with your inability to rise above 200 fps.

The rammer cap (cover behind the rammer) can be screwed and unscrewed by hand. A notch is provided for this.

9. The solenoidsolenoid

The solenoid is not subjected to changes. It is always removable but we do not recommend you to do so. This piece is a specialist. Brief summarize this point, DO NOT TOUCH! In case of failure, refer to Tech Planet Eclipse.

IMG_4713 IMG_4716

FYI: Inside of it, there is a piston with 4 joints not provided in the kit part. It is useless to grease them or change them for fun, except in case of leakage.

The solenoid is screwed by 2 screws diagonally on a plastic manifold. Now if you screw too strongly the solenoid on it, you may crack the plastic and cause an air leak. The manifold holds, too, 2 allen screws to the body of the marker. Between each piece is a seal that is lubricated at the factory. There is no point, once again, to remove the solenoid manifold and again to grease the joints. This is not necessary.

10. The valve

The valve system does not have any profile as the lever LV1. The valve is always located between the hammer (Zick rammer 3) and the exhaust valve (exhaust valve) that is used to separate the action of the rammer and bolt (bolt, here called Cure V) of the action of the valve.

The valve is not equipped with no seal. The valve has a seal. It is recommended not to remove the valves as Etek Ego except in case of leakage. A valve leakage may be due to one joint but more likely to dirt, dust between the valve and the valve side LPR.

The characteristic of the valve of the Etek 5 comes in that the latter is held with a circular clip and not a screw of the same size. This facilitates the removal, the clip can be manipulated by hand.

11. The LPRLPR et regulateur

The LPR possible to further reduce air pressure from the regulator before it reaches the solenoid. This reduces the force with which the cylinder head (bolt) will hit the ball and thus reduced ball breakage.

The LPR is no longer located at the same height but under the hammer. It is completely revised composition. For those who have been accustomed demonstrate their LPR, you will feel that it is mounted upside down. It consists of a piston with a seal, a spring, the body and an adjusting screw to adjust your LPR.

The LPR of Etek 5 is set as follows: You must screw the LPR adjustment screw and unscrew one full turn.

12. The regulatorLPR et regulateur

The Etek 5 inherits the regulator in place on all markers “high end” of Eclipse, the SL4.

The inline regulator SL4 is the 4th version of this controller. It is essentially identical to its predecessor except for the shape of her body. It consists of 6 rings and a seal that cushions the fall of the piston. Below the seal include
a spring. This spring does not wear the short term. It is rare to have to change it. Between the seal and spring, there is the Poppet Assembly Purge makes connection between the two and centers the spring in place.

At the junction with the body of the marker, there is a filter held by a screw.

Viewpoint difference with the SL3 regulator:

  • The piston of the regulator SL4 is shorter than its predecessor.
  • The spring piston SL4 is gold and not silver like the SL3.
  • The Fit Top (golden coin velocity screw) has smaller and round on the SL4 holes. A desire to reduce the pressure in the SL4 ???

Note for disassembly:

– Remove macroline.
– Unscrew the bottom Regulator discarding the lower end of the grip (near the velocity adjustment screw). So you can slide down the Regulator Swivel.
– Slide the grip. Thus the controller can be unscrewed.

13. The board

The Etek 5 retains most basic card. It is possible to adjust a screen on this card (available end of January). It should be noted that under the board that occupies the place of the screen is a QR to facilitate control of your screen.

The pratical test

The 5 Etek the test was performed with G.I. 3 stars and measured using a chrony said “red box”. The test was conducted on 21/12/14. We were on a Indoor field. The temperature was 10 degrees. The air cylinder used is the same ie a pure energy with high pressure preset at 800 psi.
The base of the gun was the original. During the test, the base was 0.693.

The test is carried out a test box. Nothing has been done on the marker except setting the velocity and the card. The average standard deviation is 4.4 fps. In comparison the EGO LV1 is 4.2 fps.

Etek 5

During testing, we have not had any ball breakage. The Etek 5 has a similar shooting LV1. It has much less kick than its predecessor. Viewpoint noise, it is significantly reduced. According away planet Eclipse, autonomy is increased but we have not been able to verify this.

The Etek 5 is actually a low cost LV1. Do not expect to have a replica of a LV1, there is a reason why there is such a difference in price;-). For its price (over half a LV1), we are delighted to every performance. The Etek 5 is a real improvement in the range Etek. We find ourselves in the same situation as the day Eclipse released the LV1. At the time, the difference between the EGO 11 and LV1 was extremely pronounced. We are in exactly the same situation between Etek 4 and 5.
